Biography

‘Forbes 30 under 30 Europe’ and ‘Social Innovator to watch Germany’

Since 2016 Cornelia is CEO and Founder at Wefugees – an Organisation digitizing the refugee consulting market.

Wefugees provides digital access to counselling in eleven different subject areas for refugees in Germany. After extensive research and Co-design Workshops about the specific communication and information behaviour of the majority of refugees in Germany (over one million people), Wefugees created an online offer to add to the existing presence consultation. Wefugees mission is to remove the barriers refugees face in accessing information they need through a model that is human-centred, accessible and that promotes self-efficacy.

Prior to that she studied sustainable Business Management at HNEE and wrote her final dissertation on knowledge management in online communities and its use for companies at T-Systems Multimedia Solutions. Thereby she also co-designed the first customer community for Sky GmbH. After graduating, she worked as COO at the software company Enabee GmbH and as an IT Project Manager at Paper&Coffee GmbH. In 2015, she felt compelled to do something about the difficulties in access information relevant for refugee support. In co-design workshops she prototyped a community-platform for and with refugees and volunteers, making access to information quick and easy. That is where Wefugees started.

Cornelia is experienced in founding, team-leading, conceptualizing projects and programms, IT-project management and software design. She holds the Startsocial scholarship, sponsored by Angela Merkel, the Startery scholarship from Social Impact Lab, the Think Big scholarship the Wirkungsschmiede from PEP(Ashoka) and is changemakerxchange fellow.
